PSHE at Our School: Introducing the Jigsaw Scheme

We are excited to announce that we are now using Jigsaw, the mindful approach to PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education). This scheme brings together PSHE, emotional literacy, social skills, and spiritual development into a comprehensive, age-appropriate curriculum across the entire school.

Jigsaw equips children with essential life skills, emotional resilience, and a clear understanding of their place in the modern world, helping them grow into healthy, confident, and empathetic individuals.

How Jigsaw Works

The curriculum is structured around six core themes—referred to as Puzzles—that the whole school explores progressively throughout the academic year:

• Being Me in My World: Understanding our place in the class, school, and wider community; exploring rights, responsibilities, and teamwork.
• Celebrating Difference: Valuing diversity, understanding respect, addressing bullying, and accepting unique differences in everyone.
• Dreams and Goals: Exploring resilience, setting personal goals, overcoming challenges, and managing disappointment.
• Healthy Me: Making healthy lifestyle choices, including physical activity, nutrition, emotional wellbeing, and safety.
• Relationships: Building healthy friendships, managing emotions, understanding social dynamics, and learning online safety.
• Changing Me: Understanding growth, coping with change, self-esteem, and age-appropriate Relationships and Health Education (RHE).

Mindfulness & Calm Me Time

A key feature of the Jigsaw approach is mindfulness. Every lesson integrates short "Calm Me" breathing techniques to help children self-regulate, focus their minds, and build emotional awareness.

RSHE Update

RSHE Update: Following the updated RSHE guidance published by the Department for Education in July 2025 (which became statutory in September 2026), our Jigsaw PSHE 3-11 curriculum is fully aligned with all the new standards.
